Epson 2720 Sublimation Printer

Although there are other models of this printer available, such as the Epson 2200, I wanted to try out the 2720 because it had some features that the 2200 did not; so when I finally found one at my local electronics store, I couldn’t pass it up!

What is sublimation?

Sublimation printing is a process that transfers ink from a heat press onto paper or fabric. The ink is heated until it turns into gas and becomes trapped within the fibers of the paper or fabric.

unlike other types of printing, sublimated inks are not made up of particles that transfer onto paper. Instead, the ink molecules become entangled with those of the substrate and form one solid material.

This has many benefits to the finished product because there’s no need for additional coating of varnish, lamination, etc. in order to prevent smudging and fading over time.

Common printing questions

What are the benefits of sublimation printing?

Sublimation printing is the process of transferring heat sensitive ink onto a material such as polyester, polypropylene, paper or vinyl.

The result is a vibrant, long lasting print. Why would I use sublimation over other printing methods? One advantage to this printing method is that it only requires one side of the substrate to be printed on.

This means that you can print on both sides without having to flip your product over to expose the back side.

What does heat sensitive mean? When heated by an external source such as an oven or press plate, dye crystals react and create a permanent film.

The Advantages of a printer like the Epon 2720

Epson has been a pioneer in the printing industry for decades and with their latest release, the Epon 2720, they continue to build on their legacy.

The Epson 2720 is equipped with three different ink tanks (cyan, magenta and yellow) that are placed on the back of the printer when not in use.

This means you can switch between colors with ease depending on what type of job you need to do next. It also features a scanner that automatically changes paper size based on the type of document you scan.

In addition to its other features, the Epson 2720 includes a CD/DVD tray that allows you to print custom labels or CD/DVD covers without any fuss at all!

Disadvantages of this printer (if any)

The only disadvantage I can think of is that it is a little more expensive than other models on the market.

Accessories that come with the printer
The printer comes with a power cord, ink cartridges, cleaning kit and installation CD. You will also get a USB cable to connect the printer to your computer.

The power cord can be plugged into any outlet or use the built in USB port on the back of the printer.
The ink cartridges come in cyan, magenta and yellow for printing images but also in photo black for printing on dark backgrounds without getting that white edge effect you might see from cheaper printers.

The cleaning kit is used when you need to clean off the rollers from all that printed paper to keep them moving smoothly. The installation CD is included so you can install it onto your computer quickly and easily so you are ready to print out all those documents!

The setting up process

The printer was really easy to set up. I had it all hooked up to my computer within 10 minutes of opening the box. The software for the printer was really user friendly, and made it easy to start printing right away.

All in all, this product is great! It’s cost effective, reliable, and easy to use

Conclusion and Final Verdict. Is it worth buying?

Conclusion and Final Verdict. Is it worth buying? Do I recommend it? Where can I buy it at the best price?

The Epson 2720 is an excellent printer that has many benefits, but it is not the right printer for everyone. The best thing about this printer is its speed and simplicity.

In just a few clicks, you can have a high quality print with no hassle. The biggest downside to this printer, however, is its limited paper capacity.

The other issue with this printer is that it cannot be used as a photocopier or scanner. Overall, I think this printer would make a great addition to any business’s printing needs and I highly recommend it!

Pros

  • The biggest pro of the printer is that it produces very high quality prints with very vibrant colors and details.
  • It has a built in media tray so you don’t need to worry about refilling ink cartridges or setting up trays, which can be a hassle when switching jobs
  • The software is easy to use and works well with other design programs
  • The Epson 2720 prints are extremely detailed and accurate, even on smaller designs
  • With the right amount of practice, anyone can get very good at operating this printer
  • One thing that isn’t so great is that it doesn’t come with an automatic cutter like some other printers do, so if you want to cut your prints then you have to buy one separately. Another problem is that there’s no WiFi connectivity, but since it connects via USB that shouldn’t be much of a problem for most people

Cons

  • The interface is not intuitive, and can take some time to learn.
